As the company has grown, our employees have remained dedicated to delivering the same high level of expertise and professionalism, and to providing continued positive impact in the lives of our customers and local communities.

 

Hayes Barnard
Founder & Chairman

Hayes founded Paramount Equity® with a passion to build a great business with people who are committed to saving their neighbors money. For over 10 years, Hayes managed and grew Paramount to over 600 employees and more than $16 billion in funded loans. In 2006 and 2009, respectively, Hayes built a consumer insurance agency focusing on auto, home and life insurance, as well as a solar company to help consumers reduce their energy bills and help the environment through utilizing green energy. Hayes has been the recipient of numerous awards during his career that include a 2013 finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year ®, Sacramento Business Journal’s 40 under 40 and the 2010 Global Impact Award.  

In 2013, Hayes sold Paramount Solar to SolarCity, the nation’s largest residential solar company. As part of the acquisition, Hayes joined SolarCity as their Chief Revenue Officer where he oversaw the sales and marketing organizations, as well as numerous other departments. In 2016, Hayes retired from SolarCity.

Hayes serves on the board of directors of Paramount G|R Holdings, LLC and also serves as President of the GivePower Foundation, a non-profit initiative to provide light via renewable energy to schools that lack access to electricity. Hayes holds a bachelor’s degree in business management and marketing from the University of Missouri.


Mike Berte
President

As Paramount’s President and a member of it’s Board of Directors, Mike oversees the strategic direction of the company and it’s overall operation. An intense and spirited leader, Mike brings over 20 years of diverse executive experience driving and building large scale consumer direct mortgage platforms. Mike’s will focus will continually be on expanding the existing consumer direct lending centers while opening new centers and distributed retail branches.

Prior to joining Paramount, Mike served as the Senior Vice President of Residential Sales at SolarCity, the largest residential solar company in the world, chaired by Elon Musk of Tesla Motors and SpaceX. While at SolarCity, Mike had direct oversight over 3,500 sales professionals in several divisions including Inside Sales, Field Sales, Direct Energy, and New Homes. Prior to SolarCity, Mike served as President and Executive Vice President of loanDepot, the third largest independent mortgage lender in the nation. Mike was also founder and CEO of Home Capital, Inc., a leading national direct to consumer mortgage platform that employed over 400 people..

Mike earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Babson College in Wellesley, MA, consistently ranked as one of the nation’s top business schools.


Michael Fahey
Chief Information Officer

Michael serves as the Chief Information Officer for Paramount and oversees technology strategies and infrastructure operations for the company. Michael has over 20 years of progressive experience in information technology services, information security management, project leadership, and people management.

Michael’s experience includes fortune 100 companies, e-commerce startups and health insurance. Most recently, he was a management consultant for various organizations helping them evaluate and transform their information technology needs into strategy and execution to optimize productivity, reduce cost and improve business operations. Prior to consulting, Michael spent 8 years at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as the Director of Information Technology Operations and ultimately the interim Chief Information Officer. During his tenure, the foundation grew from 400 to 2,500 employees with global office expansion in the US, Europe, India, Africa and China.

Michael graduated from Seattle University with a degree in Business Administration and Technology.


Jason Walker
Chief Credit Officer

As one of the founders of Paramount Equity®, Jason currently serves as its Chief Credit Officer.  In this role, Jason oversees Paramount’s mortgage operations, as well as its credit policy, agency and investor relationships, post closing, quality control and product development.  Prior to founding Paramount, Jason was a branch manager for National Mortgage where he oversaw sales and processing.  Jason started his mortgage career as a loan officer for American Equity.

A 20 year veteran of the mortgage business, Jason’s prudent decision-making has enabled Paramount to continue to thrive by avoiding the pitfalls that other mortgage companies encountered over the last few years. Jason graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in finance and real estate.


Matt Murray
Chief Marketing Officer

Matt Murray serves as Paramount’s Chief Marketing Officer.  In his role, Matt is responsible for all of Paramount’s branding efforts as well as its customer acquisition channels including radio, direct mail, digital marketing and affiliate partnerships.  Matt also manages Paramount’s call center.

Prior to joining Paramount, Matt served as the Senior Vice President of Marketing for loanDepot, LLC where he built a robust customer acquisition engine with an annualized budget of over $50 million. Matt launched his career in mortgage as a loan officer with Long Beach Mortgage. He quickly realized the power of the Internet and joined E-Loan in 1997 as it’s 7th employee, where he spent 7 years as an executive changing the way consumers interact with mortgage companies. Matt has also held senior marketing roles with Merrill Lynch Bank & Trust, Accredited Home Lenders, National City Bank and Realtor.com.

Matt attended San Jose State University where he studied business finance and management.  Matt currently holds a mortgage originator license NMLS # 1102210.


Chiena Choe
Executive Vice President of Operations

Chiena brings more than 18 years of experience in mortgage lending, with a focus in operations, to Paramount. As Executive Vice President of Operations, Chiena oversees all operations for the company. This includes processing, underwriting and closing from operational centers located in Sacramento CA, Irvine CA and Scottsdale AZ.

Throughout her career, Chiena has been instrumental in building large-scale, consumer direct mortgage operations for various lenders. Chiena most recently served as Vice President, Underwriting and Closing for Nationstar Mortgage LLC (NYSE: NSM). At NSM, she led a team of over 250 employees who were responsible for generating over $1 billion in monthly loan volume. Prior to Nationstar, Chiena held numerous senior management roles at Greenlight Financial Services and DiTech Lending.

Chiena holds a Master’s degree from the University of Southern California in public administration. She also holds a Business Administration degree from the University of California, Los Angeles.


Cameron Findlay
Executive Vice President of Capital Markets

Cameron is the head of our capital markets and risk groups. Throughout his career, Cameron’s had significant experience in managing the risk inherent in the lending business, hedging strategies and the sale and securitization of mortgage backed securities.

Prior to Paramount Equity Mortgage®, Cameron was head of secondary marketing, capital markets and Chief Economist for Discover Financial Services (NYSE: DFS) where he was responsible for a $16 billion-dollar mortgage portfolio. Before DFS, Cameron was Chief Economist and Vice President of Risk Management for LendingTree (NASDAQ: TREE), one of the nation’s premiere financial services brands. He also held various senior management roles at Union Planters Bank.

Cameron holds a degree in Business from Gymea Institute of Technology in Sydney Australia and a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from Christian Brothers University. He is a Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) and member of the Mortgage Bankers Association “Community Mortgage Banking Project” team in Washington D.C.


Raymond Snytsheuvel
Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel

Raymond is a mortgage-industry attorney and senior executive with hands-on experience in loan sales, operations and risk management. He has served at various mortgage lending institutions – both originations and servicing – in the capacity of General Counsel and Compliance Officer. Coupled with his background in loan sales and processing, customer service, and internal audit, Raymond develops make-sense legal policies and processes, contract management and negotiation, and general corporate governance.

Raymond’s primary focus has been in mortgage compliance, having deep knowledge in all state and federal laws and regulations. His engagement in government and industry relations at the company and trade-group levels has allowed him to become a leader in the mortgage compliance industry, which includes speaking frequently at legal and compliance conferences, collaborating with national policy-making groups, and serving in leadership roles for the Mortgage Bankers Association.

Incorporating his more-than twenty five (25) years in the mortgage industry, Raymond’s primary focus at Paramount Equity Mortgage® is the development a Compliance Management System, administering corporate and regulatory legal advice, engaging in risk management and assessments on the administration of law into the operation, and solving legal and operational challenges.


Jesse Spina
Executive Vice President of Sales

Jesse currently serves at Executive Vice President of Sales for Paramount where he oversees the sales organizations in the Scottsdale, Arizona and Irvine, California direct lending centers.

Jesse brings more than 11 years of sales and production leadership managing large consumer direct mortgage organizations.  He has been a driving factor in the sales growth of these companies and has been responsible for billions of dollars in mortgage volume.  He will focus on growing both the Scottsdale and Irvine locations to ensure their best-in-class production levels continue to outperform the industry.

Prior to joining Paramount, Jesse served as Vice President of Sales for loanDepot, where he oversaw sales for the Scottsdale, Arizona web center and helped grow production to over $200,000,000 a month.  Prior to loanDepot, Jesse spent 6 years at Bank of America in a variety of sales management roles.  He was also the #1 mortgage sales person in both units and loan volume for all of Bank America during his tenure as a loan officer.

Jesse earned a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Arizona State University and is currently licensed as a Mortgage Loan Originator under the National Mortgage Licensing System.  NMLS #630441.


Josh Harmatz
Executive Vice President of Sales

Josh currently serves as Executive Vice President of Sales for Paramount where he oversees the direct lending centers in Rancho Cordova, California, Roseville, California and Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Josh brings more than 12 years of mortgage experience to Paramount and has been a key driver to Paramount’s 300% growth in the consumer direct mortgage space.  Josh will be focusing on growing all three best in class direct lending centers he manages with a focus on nurturing and developing new talent into the mortgage space.
Prior to joining Paramount, Josh co-founded and managed his own mortgage company, Voyage Financial Group.  At Voyage, Josh oversaw both sales and production in 5 offices nationwide, as well as set the company’s overall business strategy.

Prior to Voyage, Josh spent 3 years with Ameriquest Mortgage in various roles including an originator, a branch manager and an area manager.  At Ameriquest, Josh set numerous company records including #1 salesperson in the entire 3,500 sales person staff and he ran the #1 branch in the company.

Josh earned both a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and an MBA from Sacramento State University where he graduated with honors in both programs.  Josh is currently licensed as a Mortgage Loan Originator under the National Mortgage Licensing System.  NMLS # 210011.


Kelly Resendez
Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development

Kelly currently serves as  the Executive Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Paramount where she oversees its retail divisions, which focuses on self-generated business.  Kelly also spearhead’s the Company’s efforts with Realtors®, builders and corporate business development.

Kelly brings more than 20 years of experience in the mortgage industry to Paramount.  She has been the driving force of the retail business for the Company as she has grown the business from the ground up over the past 4 years.  During those 4 years, the retail group has grown into one of the premier retail origination business’ in the country, with her loan officers consistently doubling the industry’s average loans closed per loan officer through the marketing and support systems she has built.  Kelly will continue to focus on growing the retail business both in Sacramento and in additional locations throughout the country.

Kelly brings to Paramount Equity Mortgage® a proven track-record of success as a mortgage originator, and was a top producing loan consultant in northern California for Washington Mutual and Wells Fargo, where she was an honored member of their President’s and Leader’s Clubs. She credits her success to an exclusive focus on working by referral, and enthusiastically shares this knowledge with the entire sales team through monthly coaching sessions. She is devoted to not only serving as a leader, but as a mentor and resource, offering goal-setting and leadership training that encourages mortgage professionals to excel in their business and better serve the needs of their customers.

Kelly studied economics at California State University Sacramento and Psychology at the University of Massachusetts.
